What Is The Happy Nuts The Lumberjack Electric Hair Trimmer?

This is a multi-purpose rechargeable, waterproof hair trimmer, as it can be used for:

  • Groin Hair
  • Body Hair
  • Ear & Nose Hair

This is Happy Nut’s third trimmer in their lineup of rechargeable trimmers. However, this trimmer doesn’t use a microblade like the Happy Nuts’ other two trimmers. This has the more traditional clipper/trimmer blade design.

Along with the trimmer blade head, you also get a nose & ear trimmer. This is the standard design you see in nose & ear hair trimmers with a 360-degree rotating

Specs

The Lumberjack measures 5 7/8 inches long with both the Trim Head and Nose & Ear Trim Head attached. The blade on the Trim head measures 1 1/4 inches wide. The motor is strong at 7500 RPM.

The blade is ceramic with a stainless steel rake.

The lithium-ion battery has a run time of 90 minutes at a full charge. The battery should take roughly two hours to charge fully.

Most Importantly, How Does It Work? My Experience

Trimmer Performance

This worked great!

I found the overall smaller size and design of this trimmer really lends itself to both feeling very comfortable in your hand and wieldy. This is important because maintaining the angle of attack when trimming hair is vital to avoid nicks and cuts.

This also has a ceramic blade, even though I didn’t see it mentioned anywhere. I reached out and confirmed this with Happy Nuts. This is important because many groin trimmers have switched to ceramic blades for cut protection and longevity over stainless steel.

Important note: I didn’t nick or cut myself using The Lumberjack barebones with no guide combs attached. The guide combs also work great. They are easy to adjust and put on. Each guide comb has three settings, and they stay in their slots when using it. I prefer using guide combs on body hair, like armpits and arms.

This thing is quiet—one of the quietest motors I’ve seen. The motor is also strong, coming in at 7500 RPM.

Nose & Ear Performance

Trimming nose & ear hair with the Lumberjack works exactly how you would expect this type of ear & nose trimmer to perform -Good.

You can expect the same results if you have used one of these before. The motor and blades easily handle the densest hair. I used this on my leg hair to see if I could get it to bog down, but it just kept chainsawing right through whatever I threw at it. This will trim all the offending hair if you spend the extra minutes paying strict attention and being thorough.

I experience zero nices with the Nose Head trimmer and zero pulling.

One negative about the Nose & Ear Trimming Head is I found it somewhat troublesome to remove. The plastic is rather slick, and the round shape makes it hard to grab hold of to pull straight off. I had to use my thumbnail to pry and pull simultaneously to remove. FYI, The larger trim head is easy to pull off and replace because its shape allows you to grasp it firmly.

Some dimpling or grooves should be molded into the plastic to help maintain a secure grip for easier removal. It should be easy to remove.

Overall

I really enjoyed using this. Right away, I could tell by how it fits into my hand that I would like it. There are only a few minor inconveniences.

A real solid performer that offers superior build quality and performance.

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Affordable.
  • It cuts hair great. The fast motor and sharp blade do wonders on hair.
  • Ceramic blade. This will help prevent nicks and also maintain a sharp edge longer than stainless steel.
  • Overall, the build quality is fantastic. It feels sturdy and well-built.
  • Powerful motor with 7500 RPM. No matter how thick the hair is, it won’t bog down.
  • Cut protection is good/great. This performed very well at protecting the old ball sack.
  • This never pulled hair. It just cuts it cleanly always.
  • It feels very comfortable in your hand.
  • The slim profile of this trimmer is very ergonomically designed.
  • I appreciate the easy-to-understand and bright charging indicator light. Green = Charged. Red = Needs Charging. No guessing game is needed here.
  • Comes fully charged.
  • Long charging cable (40 inches). I dislike short charging cables.
  • It is easy to change the trim head. Simply pull straight up to take off and push straight on to replace. Remember that the different heads are keyed, so they only go on only one way.
  • The motor is pretty darn quiet—one of the quietest I’ve seen.
  • Guide combs work nicely and are easy to attach and detach.
  • It’s a very lightweight trimmer.
  • 100% Waterproof.
  • Lithium-ion battery.
  • 90-minute run time on a full charge.
  • It comes in two colors: Graphite and Red.
  • The On/Off switch is located optimally to avoid accidentally turning it off and on.

Cons

  • Doesn’t come with a storage bag. I would like to see some storage bags come with purchasing this trimmer. This has small parts that can easily be misplaced, and a pouch or bag would keep all the parts together. A good short-term fix would be a Ziploc plastic sandwich bag.
  • Taking off the Nose & Ear Trim Head is somewhat tricky. The slick texture and smooth shape make it hard to take off easily. I would like to see some texture added for ease of use. I found I had to use my thumbnail to help get a grip and remove it.
  • No wall wart is provided for charging.

How Does It Compare To Other Trimmers I’ve Reviewed?

As far as a multipurpose tool, this is one of the better ones. I have only reviewed one multipurpose grooming tool that handles groin, body, nose, and ear hair. This is better than the Bakblade Bodbarber. My review is here: Bakblade Bodbarber 11-In-1 Groomer Review.

As far as a groin trimmer is concerned, it performs at the lofty peaks of my top groin trimmers. Yeah, it is pretty dang good.

Final Thoughts On Happy Nuts The Lumberjack Trimmer Review

This is a great product for someone looking for a groin hair trimmer and a nose & ear hair trimmer. It is built solidly and should perform for years to come.
