I Want A New Smell, One That Won’t Make Me Smell Like A Teenager
This post will be about finding natural smelling colognes. I’m in my late 40s, and as we age, we also want to smell differently than when we were younger. I wore louder colognes when I was younger and would never consider wearing what I did then. And vice versa! But things change! Am I right or what? I hope to help you find great natural-smelling colognes that smell good and like a man in this post. I wasted a lot of money the hard way trying to find just the right cologne for myself.
I hope to present a couple of varying colognes that meet the natural smelling requirement along with varying prices to fit all budgets. Also, none of these colognes should be overpowering.

My Go-To Favorites
Santal Carmin
This is the best sandalwood cologne I have found. Period! It’s very sensual and inviting.
My new go-to fragrance when I want to smell great but natural is Santal Carmin, which is made by Atelier Cologne. This is an expensive cologne but worth it in my eyes. It is my signature scent, as I have searched for a long time, buying expensive blind buys and decants, to find something that worked and spoke for me. I first bought a small decant of this and loved it; then I purchased their 200ml bottle. Yes, it hurt to do so, as this is expensive but worth it.
Atelier Cologne makes a whole menagerie of natural-smelling colognes and perfumes. Very high-end fragrances. The ones I have tried all smell very natural and good.
How does it smell?
It smells very natural, woody, and sophisticated but simple and calm. This is a unisex perfume/cologne with 91% natural origin ingredients. This scent is very welcoming and a scent you can cuddle up to.
How long does it last?
The longevity is pretty good. I get around 8 hours on my skin and 12 hours on my clothing.
The main three notes are sandalwood, bergamot, and guaiac wood.
Templeton Tonics
On the flip side of the expensive Santal Carmin comes Templeton Tonics Rollers. These come in at $15.00 for a 10-milliliter roller. A great price for sure and highly affordable, plus they smell fantastic! Templeton’s products all smell very natural and good. But don’t be fooled by the price. This is a real winner, and not many people know about this.
Templeton Tonics is a small company that is mainly focused on hair care products for men. Things like beard tonics, pomades, clay, and shampoo & conditioner. Along with their fragrance rollers, I highly recommend their hair products as well. Great hair products that smell great and give you great hold and nourish the hair as well.
I want to focus mainly on the cologne in their Premium Fragrance Rollers, which come in five different scents.
- Trailhead – Cedarwood, Fir Needle, Sage, Moss, and Fern.
- Mythos – Red Huckleberry, Mandarin, Lemon, Bergamot, Fern, Galbanum, White Sage, Lavender, Oakmoss, Sandalwood, Amber, Red Cedar
- Heritage -Bergamot, Lemon, Wild Mint, Vanilla, Spike Lavender, Oakmoss, Sandalwood, and Musk
- Nomad – Spiced Vanilla, Oud, Sandalwood, Ambrette Musk, and Incense Notes.
- Ritual – Desert Sage, Cedarwood, Sandalwood, Spicy Vanilla, and Incense Notes
I love all their scents, but my two favorites are Trailhead and Nomad. These both smell very natural and clean. Trailhead is very woodsy, very pleasing, and fresh. I’ve gotten many complaints when I wear this scent, as I believe it is unique and familiar.
The Nomad is a very clean and hypnotic scent. Keep in mind the rollers are small, but they do last a long time, at least for me, they do. I usually apply it to one of my wrists and dab the other wrist against where I applied it on the first wrist. Then, apply some under my beard on my neck.
Longevity is not long enough, usually for me around 4 hours, but that is what you get for a more natural scent profile.

Taylor Of Old Bond Street Sandalwood Cologne
This is another natural-smelling cologne I wish to share here. This is a heavy sandalwood scent that is very clean-smelling. To be honest, it’s kind of an older man’s scent but a refined older gentleman. I prefer to wear this in the colder months of the year.
The price of this is in the middle of the road, around the 30 to 40 dollar mark.

Agar Gold No.2
This is a clone cologne of a very popular expensive cologne from Tom Ford’s Oud Wood. The company that makes this clone is ALT. Fragrances. Don’t be put off by this at all, as ALT is known for its reputation of producing very close clones at a very affordable price. Being a clone house, you pay a lot less at ALT. Then, for a full bottle of expensive designer fragrances. They have many clone colognes and perfumes at very affordable prices.
One of my favorites from ALT’s product line is Agar Gold No.2, as this smells very natural and pleasing to me. This is also a very welcoming and romantic scent profile.
