Yes, it sucks. Yeah, it’s unsightly. Ear hair is not attractive and being a well-groomed man means taking care of ear hair. I will lay out several methods of dealing with this dilemma and also recommend products I have used as well.
Before You Start
A Strong Light Source is needed to properly see and take address the situation. Either in a bathroom or a well-lit room with a mirror. This will greatly help you realize how and where you need to tackle the problem.
The Different Ways To Get Rid Of Ear Hair
Tweezing
Tweezing can be a time-consuming endeavor but with longer-lasting than using an ear hair trimmer. As you are pulling the hair completely out instead of just trimming close to the skin. But if you have time watching TV or just have a lot of free time sitting there doing nothing this can be a very long-lasting result-producing method of removing hair.
There also could be some pain involved but not much in my experience, nothing like pain from pulling nose hairs. There is also a greater chance of not getting all the hairs, as it is harder since tweezers are only grabbing such a small area.
There also comes the problem some tweezers just plain don’t grab hairs as they should.
I have found that the Tweezerman Slant Tweezer works really well at grabbing even hard-to-grab hairs and does a fine job with ear hairs.
Waxing
Waxing can also be a great method for removing ear hair. This can be quite intimidating the first time you do it, but once you did it once it is much easier afterward.
Earlier this year I did it the first time and was tentative about the whole procedure but just grabbed my sack and did what I had to. It wasn’t that bad at all.
I tried the Kenashii Nose Hair Removal Kit. This can also be used on your ears as well. You can read my full review here, Kenashii Nose Hair Removal Kit Review. I found this work pretty well but takes some practice. Also, follow the instructions very carefully.
I used it on my nose hair and ear hair and it wasn’t that bad at all, with very little pain and discomfort.
Electric Trimmer
There are many many mucho electric trimmers designed for ears and nose hair. Way too many to list. Some work well and some are a complete waste of money. This is a pretty quick way to clean ear hair fast and with zero pain to boot. These modern electric trimmers are a lot better than they were years ago, as I haven’t experienced any pulling or pain using any from the list below.
Luckily, I have reviewed a few of these and will highlight the better ones of the bunch. These can also be used on nose hair too.

Check Your Work
Just like I mentioned above, you will need a strong light source to check how well you did removing ear hair or the areas missed. It is a very strong possibility, especially if you are new to the whole procedure. Most bathrooms have good lighting and would.
Since it is almost impossible to check every area of your ears for hairs with a mirror and your eyes even with good lighting, I suggest you take some pictures with your smartphone to verify you got all them nasty hairs. Just point the camera close, but not too close, and snap some pictures. Try different angles and using the flash or varying the distance between the camera and ear to find just the right variables to take clear and up-close pictures.
Verify through the pictures you have taken, then quickly delete those pictures.
Nobody should ever see them except you. Avoid any possible weird and awkward situation.
The Final Shave
For me personally, I love the convenience of an electric trimmer for removing unwanted hairs from my ears and nose. Your preference might be different and I hope I outlined adequately some other options to choose from.
Happy trimming!
Would love to hear any questions or recommendations on what you use to remove ear hair.
